Terms of sale

What you can expect from us, and what we need from you, when you buy a device from Hydro-Tech. Written the way the shop actually works rather than the way terms pages usually read.

Draft. This page describes how ordering here works today. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the points listed at the bottom still need Hydro-Tech's own answers before launch.

1. Who you are buying from

Hydro-Tech Nnewi, a phone and mobile-tech retailer trading from Nnewi, Anambra. Our contact details are on the contact page, and a person answers them.

2. Prices

Prices are in Nigerian naira and are the price payable for that exact unit - the storage, the colour and the condition shown on the listing, not a starting figure for the model in general. Prices can change, and a price shown on the site is an invitation to order, not an accepted order.

3. Placing an order

There are two ways to order, and they carry the same weight. You can pay online, or send the order to us on WhatsApp and finish it in the chat. Either way you get an order number, and the order is the same order in our system.

An order is accepted when an online payment is confirmed, or when we confirm your WhatsApp order back to you - not at the moment you press the button. Until then, nothing is reserved.

4. Availability

Putting an item in your cart does not hold it, and neither does starting checkout. Nothing is reserved until we confirm your order, which means an item can sell while it is sitting in a cart.

We sell in the shop as well as online, so each listing tells you whether an item is available rather than how many we have - a count kept on the website would be out of date as soon as somebody bought one across the counter.

If an item turns out to have gone after you have paid, we will tell you and refund that item in full through the same method you paid with.

5. Payment

Online payments are handled by our payment providers. Your card details go to them directly and never reach our servers or our staff. Orders finished on WhatsApp are settled with us directly, on terms you agree with us in that conversation.

6. Collection and delivery

You choose collection or delivery when you order. The site does not calculate a courier charge, because delivery here is arranged with you directly - we confirm where it is going, when, and what it costs before anything is sent.

For collection, the device is yours from the moment it is handed over at the counter, after the checks below. For delivery, it is yours once it reaches the address you gave us.

7. Checks before handover

Every device goes through the same five checks before it is sealed and handed over - authenticity, physical condition, a live functions test, accessories, then packaging. You are invited to watch all five, and we would rather you did.

Please do check the device with us before you leave the counter. Anything we find, we point out; anything you find while we are both standing there is far easier to resolve than the same thing found at home. See the Trust Process.

8. Condition and photographs

Condition is graded by hand, per unit, and stated on the listing. Where a listing shows a manufacturer photograph, it is one matched to that exact model, storage and colour; anything less exact than that is held back until a person has checked it, so you will see a plain category picture rather than a photograph that might be the wrong colourway. Used and graded devices are photographed as themselves.

9. Warranty and faults

Cover on a device is the manufacturer's warranty that comes with it. We do not sell a separate shop warranty on top of it, and we do not shorten it: what the maker covers is what you have. The length and the terms are the manufacturer's own, so they differ by brand and by model, and the ones that apply to your device are stated at the time of sale and printed on its product page.

On used and graded devices, that means whatever is left of the manufacturer's cover, if any - which is often nothing, and we will say so plainly rather than let you assume otherwise.

Either way, send a warranty request with your order number or your counter receipt number - both work, and a paper receipt from the shop counts. Looking at the device costs nothing, whether or not it turns out to be covered. Make a warranty request.

10. Refunds

Where a refund is agreed, it goes back through the same payment method you used. Talk to us as early as you can - the sooner we see the device, the more we can do about it.

Nothing on this page removes the rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law.

11. Repairs

Repairs are quoted per device after we have seen it, and the terms for a repair are agreed when you bring it in - they are not these terms. See repairs and services.

12. Your details

What we collect and why is set out in the privacy policy.

Still to be confirmed

Two things on this page are Hydro-Tech's own to state, and are deliberately not made up here:

  • the period within which an unwanted device can be returned, and in what condition;
  • the registered business name and address to name as the seller.

Until they are filled in, ask us and we will tell you plainly for the device in front of you.
